KTEL buses in Greece, explained
KTEL is how most people travel between Greek mainland towns without a car. The one thing to know: it is not a single national company but a network of regional companies, each with its own website and ticket office.
Checked 9 October 2026. No fares or timetables here: check the regional KTEL.
Where to look and book
- Umbrella information: ktelbus.com (POAYS).
- Booking is usually on the regional KTEL website or at the bus station.
- Attica (including buses to Rafina port): ktelattikis.gr.
Athens has two long-distance terminals
- Kifissos: historically the larger yard, for the Peloponnese and many long routes.
- Liosion: historically for central and northern mainland directions.
OASA's X93 Airport Express bus links the airport with both stations, with an estimated journey of about 65 minutes depending on traffic. Always go to the terminal printed on your ticket.
An example: buses to Delphi
Delphi is served by KTEL Fokidas, which lists its Athens agency at Liosion 260 and its Delphi agency at Apollonos 8. Check times on ktel-fokidas.gr. See our Athens to Delphi guide.
KTEL on the islands
Crete in particular has useful intercity coaches along the north coast, with regional sites such as e-ktel.com for Chania–Rethymno.
